Second Munich Technology Conference to focus on the industrialisation of AM

The 2nd Munich Technology Conference on Additive Manufacturing (MTC2), co-sponsored by Oerlikon and the Technical University of Munich (TU Munich), will be held at TU Munich, Germany, from October 10–11, 2018. The first MTC was held in October 2017 and attracted more than six hundred attendees.
MTC2 will focus heavily on the industrialisation of Additive Manufacturing, with questions to be addressed across the conference programme including:
- How the speed of AM industrialisation can be increased
- What challenges remain and how to overcome them
- How the industry can learn from current market success stories
- Identifying the main cost drivers along the value chain and how these can be reduced
- Identifying the focus areas of today’s hardware providers
- What materials are being used today and which may be of special interest in the future
Participants from a cross-section of industries, academia, government and associations will be present during the conference to discuss these issues. Presentations will be given by companies and institutions including GE Additive, Trumpf, XJet, BASF 3D Printing Solutions, BMW Group, Fraunhofer IWU, Concept Laser, GE Aviation, EOS, Siemens, Boeing, MTU Aero Engines and HP.
According to the organisers, topics of particular interest at MTC2 will include applications for AM in the aerospace, automotive, medical and power generation industries, as well as its application in general industry and tooling.
