Tekna secures further titanium powder orders from US defence customer

Tekna Holding ASA, headquartered in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, has received a new order from a long-standing customer, a US-based contract manufacturer supplying precision components to defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Including the latest order, the total value of orders placed this year exceeds CA$3 million, more than six times the value of orders received from the customer during the whole of 2025.

The orders are for Tekna’s Ti-6Al-4V titanium powder, an alloy widely used in Additive Manufacturing for aerospace and defence applications because of its high strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance. According to the company, the customer, which has not been identified at its request, uses the powder to manufacture components for defence applications.
Approximately half of the order volume has already been delivered, with the remaining material scheduled for shipment during the second half of 2026.
The latest orders build on a customer relationship that began in 2017. In 2025, Tekna supplied approximately CA$0.5 million of titanium powder to the same customer. Orders received so far in 2026 therefore represent more than six times the total value recorded during the previous year, with five months of the year still remaining.

Claude Jean, CEO of Tekna, stated, “This expansion reflects the trust our customer has placed in Tekna’s quality, consistency and reliability over nearly a decade of partnership. Demand for near-shore, high-performance metal powders is accelerating as our customers move Additive Manufacturing into serial production, and we are proud to support our customer’s mission-critical production with material that meets the most stringent industry requirements.”
According to Tekna, the increased order volume reflects continued demand from the aerospace and defence metal AM sectors, where contract manufacturers are increasing production capacity for titanium components to support OEM programmes.
