Faiborida 3D launches quad-laser SLM M500 metal Additive Manufacturing machine

Faiborida 3D, headquartered in Foshan, China, has launched its SLM M500 Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing machine. The machine has a 500 × 500 × 500 mm build envelope.
The SLM M500 is equipped with four 500 W IPG fibre lasers operating at a wavelength of 1064 nm, paired with a SCANLAB galvanometer and F-theta lens. The machine has a stated build rate of 20–80 cm³/h at layer thicknesses of 0.02–0.2 mm. Recommended scanning and jump speeds are 1–4 m/s and 6–7 m/s, respectively, with a maximum speed of 11 m/s.

According to Faiborida 3D, dimensional accuracy is ±0.1 mm for dimensions up to 100 mm and ±0.1% of length for dimensions above 100 mm. The machine is designed to process stainless steels, cobalt-chromium alloys, titanium alloys, tool steels, aluminium alloys and high-temperature alloys.
Powder is supplied from above using a two-way powder-feeding system. The SLM M500 also incorporates a closed internal powder-processing system for powder loading and recovery, with a protective-gas circulation system operating with nitrogen or argon.
Data processing is carried out using Voxeldance Additive software, while equipment control is handled via software developed by Faiborida, running on Windows 10 or later. Supported data formats are STL, SLC and JOB.

Faiborida identifies mould and tooling production, automotive and aerospace components, and precision parts for nuclear power, military and orthopaedic applications among the intended uses for the new machine.
