NCDMM appoints Melinda Schreyer-Hughes as CFO

The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), a subsidiary of Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group (MTDG) based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, USA, has appointed Melinda (Mindy) Schreyer-Hughes as Chief Financial Officer. She succeeds Gene Berkebile, who was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in April.
In her new role, Schreyer-Hughes will provide financial leadership and oversight for NCDMM and support its strategic objectives. She has more than twenty years of experience in accounting, financial leadership, government contract compliance and operations within regulated defence and government contracting environments.

“Mindy brings an exceptional depth of experience in government contracting, financial management, compliance, and operational leadership,” stated Berkebile. “Her understanding of the complex financial and regulatory requirements of our industry, combined with her collaborative approach to leadership, makes her an excellent addition to the NCDMM executive team. We are pleased to welcome her to the organisation and look forward to the experience and perspective she will bring as NCDMM continues to grow.”
Before joining NCDMM, Schreyer-Hughes was Assistant Controller at DRS Technologies, where she led financial operations, compliance oversight, internal controls, budgeting, financial reporting and audit readiness activities. She previously served as Manager of Compliance at DRS Technologies, leading DCAA and DCMA audits, annual incurred cost audits and other compliance initiatives within a government contracting environment.
Earlier in her career, Schreyer-Hughes spent nearly fourteen years with Concurrent Technologies Corporation as Government Liaison Lead. In this role, she coordinated audit activities with DCAA and DCMA and supported incurred cost, indirect rate and system reviews. She began her career as an auditor with the US Department of Defense’s Office of Inspector General.

“I’m very excited to join NCDMM and be part of an organisation with such an important mission. I’m looking forward to working with the talented team at NCDMM, learning from the organisation’s strong foundation, and contributing to our customers and partners, as well as to NCDMM’s continued growth and success,” added Schreyer-Hughes.
Schreyer-Hughes’ career has included work to strengthen financial and operational processes, maintain regulatory compliance and build collaborative teams. She has also served as President and Vice President of the Greater Johnstown local chapter of the National Contract Management Association.
Schreyer-Hughes has a bachelor’s degree in business, with a concentration in accounting, from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She is also a graduate of the John B Gunter Leadership Program, a programme designed to develop leadership for Greater Johnstown/Cambria County by honing leadership skills and promoting community volunteerism.
