Evology Manufacturing, based in Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA, has announced the acquisition of an EOS M 400-4 metal Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing machine to expand its production capacity. EOS has also announced Evology as the newest member of its Production Partner Network.

Once installed, the new machine will bring Evology’s EOS Additive Manufacturing fleet to ten, comprising eight metal and two polymer machines. The investment is intended to help the company manage growing order backlog and prevent lead times from increasing.

Sinter-based Additive Manufacturing: Beyond the hype, towards industrial success

Evology specialises in Additive Manufacturing, precision machining, tooling and production services. Combining metal and polymer AM technologies with conventional manufacturing methods, the company produces complex parts, functional prototypes, tooling and low-volume production components for industries including aerospace, automotive, defence and industrial manufacturing.

“Our space customers are driving a backlog on our existing fleet of M 290s,” stated Chris Keidl, Vice President of Operations at Evology Manufacturing.

“To live our vision of becoming the most trusted, capable, and agile contract manufacturer, we strive to start building the same day an order is placed. When lead times consistently stretch beyond two to three weeks, we add capacity. The EOS M 400-4 takes us beyond our M 290 platform with a larger build envelope, four lasers, and automated manufacturing. It strengthens our ability to run bigger, more complex metal jobs and reflects our commitment to investing in the technologies that help our customers succeed.”

The EOS M 400-4 features four 400 W lasers and a build volume of 400 × 400 × 400 mm. Its larger build envelope and additional production capacity are expected to enable Evology to manufacture larger metal components and support expanding customer programmes.

“As more manufacturers turn to additive technologies for production, companies like Evology are helping lead that transition,” said Andrew Snow, senior vice president at EOS. “Its investment in the EOS M 400-4 demonstrates the value of scalable metal Additive Manufacturing. We are also pleased to welcome Evology to the EOS Production Partner Network, a trusted group of manufacturers providing high-quality 3D printing services across a wide range of industries.”
