Gefertec, based in Berlin, Germany, has launched the arc10X, an industrial-grade Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) machine. The arc10X is aimed at both research institutions and industrial users seeking a solution for the Additive Manufacturing of metal components.

Gefertec stated that it has priced the new arc10X at a level intended to broaden access to WAAM technology. Its 5 m2 footprint is also intended to allow integration into existing production environments.

The machine is designed with a modular architecture that enables users to adapt configuration and functionality as production requirements evolve, from research applications through to automated series production. The arc10X offers a maximum build size with an edge length of 1.2 m and supports component weights of up to 750 kg.

Modularity

According to Gefertec, the modular design enables the machine to be tailored to specific application requirements. Available options include solutions for processing reactive materials such as titanium, active component or table cooling, and in-process geometry monitoring systems.

Additional features include automated ignition fault correction and largely autonomous operation. These capabilities are intended to support stable processing, reproducible part quality, and cost-efficient multi-shift production.

Local storage

For quality assurance, the arc10X incorporates a monitoring system that records process data on a per-part basis and stores it locally. Machine states, fill-level data, and camera monitoring of the build area can be accessed without requiring a cloud connection.

This approach makes the machine suitable for industrial environments with strict data sovereignty requirements.
