Addiguru, Apex and Renishaw partner on in-situ AM monitoring

Addiguru, based in Metairie, Louisiana, USA, is collaborating with UK companies Apex Additive Technologies, in Ebbw Vale, Wales, and Renishaw, in Wotton-under-Edge, to advance in-situ monitoring in Additive Manufacturing.

First announced at Formnext 2025, the companies plan to demonstrate how tighter integration of in-situ monitoring with machine control may help drive process confidence, reduce cost, and accelerate adoption of Additive Manufacturing for production applications.
The teams are working to combine Addiguru’s multi-sensor monitoring platform, integrating optical, near-infrared (NIR), and long-wave infrared (LWIR) sensing, with Apex’s process and applications expertise and Renishaw’s RenAM 500Q Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing machine.
Through ongoing API integration with Renishaw Central and DataHUB, Addiguru’s software is able to access and correlate layer-by-layer photodiode intensity data, optical imaging and machine control parameters with LWIR thermal mapping. According to the company, this data integration enables earlier detection of process deviations and supports faster development of stable, repeatable process parameters.
“Just as Renishaw transformed the subtractive machining world through in-process metrology, this partnership applies the same philosophy to Additive Manufacturing,” Addiguru stated in a press release.
