Metal Powder Works, based in Clinton, Pennsylvania, USA, has announced the addition of two powders to its metal powder portfolio. The new powders are intended for use with Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (CSAM), Powder Bed Fusion (PBF), Directed Energy Deposition (DED) and Binder Jetting (BJT).

Manganese bronze

C86300 Mn bronze is renowned for strength, toughness, and long-term durability. MPW stated that its powder is well-suited for marine, aerospace, and heavy equipment applications.

Naval brass

C46400 naval brass is a primarily copper-zinc alloy supported with a low level of tin for added corrosion resistance. Because of this, the material is ideal for seawater and brine environments, supporting improved service life in marine and industrial systems.

Both powders feature the following characteristics:

  • Nominal particle size: 20-63 µm
  • Apparent density: 2.0 g/cm3
  • Tapped density: 2.7 g/cm3
