Ricoh 3D, based in Telford, Shropshire, UK, has announced that it will showcase its aluminium Binder Jetting (BJT) and next-generation thermal management solutions at the upcoming Battery Cells & Systems Expo. The event will take place July 9-10, 2025, at NEC Birmingham, UK.

As sustainability-conscious businesses actively rethink how products are designed, manufactured, and managed throughout their lifecycle, the pressure to develop low-carbon, energy-efficient technologies increases, explains the company.

“Thermal management is no longer a secondary consideration – it is a critical design imperative,” added Ricoh 3D’s Head of Additive Manufacturing and Applications, Mark Dickin. “From automotive and aerospace, to consumer electronics, energy storage, defence, and data centres, effective heat dissipation is fundamental to both performance and safety. Components such as heatsinks, cooling plates, and heat exchangers are now at the core of sustainable innovation.”

By enabling complex, lightweight, and thermally efficient parts that are not possible through conventional means, Binder Jetting opens new doors for manufacturers to reduce material waste, lower component weight, and optimise energy use, without compromising structural integrity or performance (Courtesy Ricoh 3D)

The acceleration of electric vehicles (EVs) is a clear example: with international mandates driving the demand for high-performance battery packs, inverters, and electric motors, this progress creates new engineering challenges in managing the intense heat generated by increasingly compact, high-power systems.

By enabling complex, lightweight, and thermally efficient parts that may not be possible through conventional means, BJT Additive Manufacturing opens new doors for manufacturers to reduce material waste, lower component weight, and optimise energy use, without compromising structural integrity or performance.

These benefits directly support broader global goals such as carbon neutrality, circular manufacturing, and industrial electrification.

Battery Cells & Systems Expo 2025

The Battery Cells & Systems Expo 2025 is expected to attract over 300 exhibitors, over 5,500 attendees and 150 expert speakers, offering insight into battery trends, manufacturing advances, safety, and sustainability. As electrification sweeps across industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, and electronics, efficient thermal management becomes vital.

Registration for the expo is free; those interested can do so here. Ricoh 3D invites battery manufacturers, system integrators, EV OEMs and thermal-management specialists to explore collaboration opportunities at Stand 856.
