WAAMathon 2026 focuses on scaling WAAM adoption

Berlin.Industrial.Group. has shared the agenda for the third edition of WAAMathon, scheduled to take place on June 11, 2026, at the Estrel Hotel in Berlin, Germany. The event is exclusively focused on Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), a form of Directed Energy Deposition (DED) that uses an electric arc to melt metal wire, which is then deposited layer by layer to build large metal parts for industrial applications.
The goal of the WAAMathon is to promote the wider adoption and accessibility of the technology, while fostering a community where participants can exchange ideas, share experiences, and collaborate on future developments.
The event agenda will be split across two stages and is as follows:
Stage 1:
- Agentic Systems as a Catalyst for Faster Development and Production with WAAM
- Tobias Kamps and Raven Reisch, Siemens
- Automatic Toolpath Optimisation using Finite Element Thermal Simulation and AI
- Danny Lloyd, Aibuild
- Building a WAAM Grid Fin: From Simulation and Experimentation Towards Full-Scale Production – Michiel Debel, Guaranteed
- Significant Advantages of 3D Printing for Service Parts and Serial Production
- Sebastian Recke, GEFERTEC; René Liers, Siemens Energy
- Industrialization of WAAM at SNCF Voyageurs, development of a qualification process
- Cléa Plouze, SNCF
- Intent-Based WAAM Recipe Generation through AI-Driven Experiments and Simulation-Augmented Thermomechanical modelling
- Daniel Haas MSc, 3D-Components
