Velo3D named Andretti sponsor, showcases metal AM

Velo3D, based in Fremont, California, USA, has partnered with Andretti Performance as an official sponsor and Additive Manufacturing technology provider for two rounds of the 2026 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

The partnership will include Velo3D branding on the No 43 Andretti Performance Porsche at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is also intended to highlight the company’s capabilities through the use of performance-critical components produced using its metal Additive Manufacturing technology.
As part of the collaboration, Velo3D has designed and manufactured an aluminium CP1 radio control mounting bracket for the No 43 Porsche, intended to improve the rigidity and performance of cockpit communication and control systems. The component was produced using Constellium’s Aheadd CP1 aluminium alloy, a material developed for Additive Manufacturing and increasingly used in aerospace and defence applications due to its combination of low weight, high strength and elevated-temperature performance.
The bracket was optimised using generative design tools to improve structural efficiency while reducing weight, reflecting what the company describes as the late John Andretti’s philosophy of being ‘smart, but aggressive’.
The collaboration is intended to demonstrate the potential of Additive Manufacturing in performance engineering, enabling the production of lighter, stronger components for use in demanding operating environments.
