Powder Testing for Additive Manufacturing discussed in new blog
July 13, 2020
Freeman Technology, a Micromeritics company based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, UK, reports that Jamie Clayton, the company’s Operations Director has published a blog on ‘Powder Testing for Additive Manufacturing: Precise Characterisation for an Exacting Application’ as part of Freeman’s Powder Flow Insights series.
The blog looks at the importance of bulk powder testing for AM applications and what has been learned about specifying materials for this still relatively new manufacturing technique.
Freeman explains that over the last decade, it has become clear that the processes involved in Additive Manufacturing are exacting in terms of which materials will process efficiently. At the same time, understanding of how to identify powders that will additively manufacture well has grown.
The company explains that its FT4 Powder Rheometer can play a defining role in the testing of many AM powders, including metals, polymers, ceramics and even pharmaceutical formulations.
