Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt has reported that materials supplier participation at Formnext Asia Shenzhen 2025 is up 68% over the 2024 edition of the event. The expanded materials segment will feature prominent suppliers of high-performance polymers, metal powders, specialised ceramics and more, catering to applications across many of China’s major industrial sectors, from automotive and aerospace to new energy.

Scheduled to take place from August 26–28, 2025, at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre, the exhibition is expected to reach full capacity as registrations progress.

“China, already one of the fastest growing Additive Manufacturing (AM) markets worldwide, is quickly assembling all the elements needed to develop its AM industry into an international leader,” explained Louis Leung, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd. “With growing participation from companies across the entire value chain, Formnext Asia Shenzhen is better equipped than ever to support China’s industry and help drive its growth in both regional and international markets. The 2025 edition will once again bring together every segment of this growing ecosystem, giving manufacturers the opportunity to assess how these technologies can suit their production needs and source complete solutions for their business.”

New materials in China’s AM industry

In 2024, the global AM industry grew by 9.1% to reach $21.8 billion, with materials representing $4.4 billion of the market. Market analysis reportedly highlights China’s substantial contribution to this growth.

Supporting this industry is a well-developed materials sector that has benefitted from substantial government investment and policy attention, in line with national priorities for industrial development. The country’s new materials sector, covering advanced polymers, composites, and specialised alloys and other emerging materials, has achieved a double-digit growth rate since 2010. In Additive Manufacturing, the use of these materials, particularly in high-tech and advanced manufacturing sectors, has enabled AM technologies to overcome technical barriers that previously limited their use.

Recent national investments in standardisation, testing, and validation facilities have further improved manufacturers’ ability to bring new formulations to market, resulting in a wider selection of domestically produced options for Additive Manufacturing. Highlighting this progress, Formnext Asia Shenzhen 2025’s expanded materials segment will feature leading suppliers supporting AM applications across several of China’s fastest-growing sectors.

Laser systems at Formnext Asia Shenzhen 2025

In addition to materials and equipment, industrial Additive Manufacturing relies on a range of supporting technologies. Among these, lasers are widely employed as energy sources for melting metal powders or curing resins in AM systems. At Formnext Asia Shenzhen 2025, equipment manufacturers will have the opportunity to meet Chinese laser system suppliers such as Ante Laser, Blue Tech, DGLaser, Feibo Laser, Han’s Photonics, Shenzhen Worthing, and Vistek Laser.

The event will also host the Laser and Additive Manufacturing Forum as part of its fringe programme, providing further insights into the applications of laser technologies in additive manufacturing.
