Markforged partners with ICT to produce additively manufactured parts for US government

February 22, 2020

Markforged, Watertown, Massachusetts, USA, has entered into a partnership with not-for-profit strategic investment firm In-Q-Tel, Inc. (IQT), to enable the US government to leverage Markforged’s industrial Additive Manufacturing platforms for metal and continuous carbon fibre parts. IQT identifies and accelerates the development and delivery of cutting-edge technologies to support US government agencies.

Branches of the US military already have hundreds of Markforged machines in operation today. The company explains that it implemented its first forward-deployed metal system to support combat operations, and has now expanded its support operations to three continents, with the US militaryy using metal and carbon fibre AM machines for a variety of use cases globally, such as machinery repair, tool creation and field operations.

“Markforged stands out as a leading innovator in Additive Manufacturing,” stated Clayton Williams, Technical Staff, Field Technologies at IQT. “We’re excited to begin this partnership with them to further our mission to support our government partners.”

Greg Mark, CEO and founder of Markforged, commented, “We’re excited to expand the reach of our solutions with IQT and continue to push the bounds of what’s possible in Additive Manufacturing. Markforged makes it easy to build anything you can imagine, and that capability will empower the people in the Intelligence Community to fulfil their mission anywhere in the world.”
