Russell Finex, based in Feltham, UK, has announced that Imaginarium Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, India, has adopted its compact AMPro Lab Sieve Station to improve powder handling efficiency and safety in Additive Manufacturing.

EOS M4 ONYX: Exploring a customer-led path to scaling series metal Additive Manufacturing

Efficient and safe handling of metal powders remains a critical aspect of AM, as inconsistent sieving and inefficient recovery can slow production, introduce handling risks, and reduce overall process efficiency, the company explains. As many Additive Manufacturing processes rely on powder feedstock, handling and reprocessing are an integral part of the manufacturing workflow.

Imaginarium has over two decades of experience in digital manufacturing and metal Additive Manufacturing. While the company previously offered large industrial sieves alongside its Additive Manufacturing machines, it found limitations when customers needed to switch between materials such as stainless steel and titanium. Cleaning requirements and the need to process large powder volumes reduced operational flexibility and increased downtime.

To address these challenges, Imaginarium evaluated alternative powder handling technologies, focusing on enabling faster material changeovers, improving the handling of small batch quantities, and supporting the safe processing of hazardous powders. After extensive testing, the company has opted to supply the Russell AMPro Lab Sieve Station alongside its metal Additive Manufacturing machines.

The compact unit is designed for small-batch powder recovery and integrates directly with the relevant AM machine, removing the need to accumulate large volumes of powder prior to sieving. Its capacity is aligned with typical metal Additive Manufacturing production scales, helping to reduce turnaround times and improve workflow efficiency.

The Russell Sieve was reported to have shown particular benefits when processing special alloys and reactive materials such as titanium. Improved sieving speed, consistent mesh performance, and simplified cleaning procedures support increased productivity while maintaining safety standards.

Imaginarium reports that its new sieving option supports its customers across sectors including aerospace, automotive, energy, healthcare, and general industry, where controlled handling of Additive Manufacturing feedstock is essential to ensuring process reliability and part quality.
