HBD expands in Europe with opening of new Munich facility

Metal Additive Manufacturing machine maker Shanghai Hanbang 3D Tech Co, Ltd (HBD), headquartered in Shanghai, China, has opened a new European facility, HBD Additive Europe GmbH, in Munich, Germany. The move is intended to strengthen the company’s position in the global AM industry and build on the overseas business HBD has conducted since 2017.

HBD has customers across China, EMEA, Europe, the Americas, Asia and other regions, serving global industries such as aerospace, automotive, healthcare, energy, consumer electronics, dental, and tooling.
“As demand in Europe continues to rise, we are dedicated to delivering advanced Additive Manufacturing technologies that meet the needs of local industries and volume production,” stated Jianye Liu, CEO of HBD Group.
HBD Additive Europe will act as the strategic facility for HBD’s European operations. The Munich facility will also serve as an R&D centre, focusing on the innovation and development of Additive Manufacturing technologies, and providing advanced solutions for global clients.

During the opening ceremony, attended by partners, customers, and industry leaders, HBD’s team presented the company’s technological innovations and future plans, showcasing how HBD’s metal AM technology optimises the design of complex products, enhancing production efficiency and precision.
“Our expansion in Europe isn’t just about increasing market share,” said Rodgers Ma, Vice President of Overseas Business at HBD Group and Managing Director of HBD Additive Europe. “It’s about delivering solutions through technological innovation and exceptional service, helping our customers improve product performance, reduce costs and guarantee operational reliability.”
“Innovation is the driving force behind our company’s growth,” Ma continued. “Today’s opening ceremony marks not just the start of our journey in Europe, but also our long-term commitment to the global Additive Manufacturing industry. As we continue to expand, we remain focused on tackling the challenges that our industry faces, such as capability gaps, scaling barriers, outdated technology, and slow expansion.”

To address those challenges and support global clients, the HBD Smart Digital Factory Solution was introduced for the first time at the opening ceremony. The solution is designed to enable cross-sector adoption, facilitate rapid scaling, improve cost efficiency, and provide replicable models for growth. By integrating diverse machine configurations, automation, and post-processing, HBD aims to overcome capacity and cost constraints.
The HBD Smart Digital Factory Solution offers efficient, stable, and intelligent solutions for building future-ready metal Additive Manufacturing businesses. “HBD is excited to bring this scalable and cost-effective solution to Europe, helping local manufacturers meet evolving market demands with both efficiency and quality,” it was added.

The event also provided a valuable opportunity for HBD to connect directly with clients from around the world and discuss the opportunities and challenges within the Additive Manufacturing sector.
“HBD isn’t just offering Additive Manufacturing services; we’re building a global, integrated ecosystem to meet the rapidly evolving market demands and technological challenges,” concluded Liu.
