Fraunhofer’s Direct Digital Manufacturing Conference moves online
April 27, 2020
The Fraunhofer Additive Manufacturing Alliance, Dresden, Germany, will hold its Direct Digital Manufacturing Conference (DDMC 2020), which was originally scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany from March 18–19, 2020, online as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19). The digital event will take place on June 23, 2020.
In an official statement, the organisation wrote, “Even as we are seeing the first optimistic signs of the curve of infection indeed flattening, the COVID-19 pandemic remains the most urgent and unpredictable health challenge our world has faced in recent memory.”
“We accept no compromise in our commitment to the health and safety of our speakers and attendees, which is why we are moving the Fraunhofer Direct Digital Manufacturing Conference DDMC 2020 into the virtual world, with an exciting and innovative digital conference format, hosted on 23 June 2020.”
“Although we sincerely regret not having the opportunity to meet and greet all of you in person, we are looking forward to welcoming our loyal audience of Additive Manufacturing researchers, educators and practitioners in the virtual realm,” the statement continued. “We are currently finalising our agenda and the details of our new format to bring you the most inspiring and educational DDMC that the current circumstances allow.”
All presentations and papers will be made available to digital attendees, with registered participants set to receive an email containing further information in early May. Paper authors will also receive detailed information on how to provide their presentations.
Those attendees who have already registered will also receive a discount on their registration fees, and registrations have also reopened to new participants.
Further information and registration details are available via the event website.
