Farsoon and Brose target high-volume automotive production

Farsoon Europe GmbH, based in Sindelfingen, Germany, has partnered with Brose, Coburg, to develop a custom metal Additive Manufacturing machine specifically targeting the automotive industry. The machine is based on Farsoon’s FS721M-8-CAMS, and has a build volume of 720 x 420 x 390 mm, with an optional build height of 650 mm. It features eight 2,000W lasers and Farsoon’s patented beam-shaping technology.
“The advanced system supplied by Farsoon enables us to profitably produce larger series thanks to higher throughput and shorter production times. With the FS721-8-CAMS, Brose can now produce more components per production order, shorten cycle times and increase overall profitability – making Additive Manufacturing an economical solution for high-volume applications,” stated Eric Fritzsche, Head of Additive Manufacturing, Brose. “An outstanding feature of the innovative 3D printer is its compatibility with ‘green’ steel, a low-alloy steel material that supports our commitment to sustainable production.”
Beam shaping enables efficient use of laser power, explains Farsoon. Working with larger laser spot diameters in the form of a circular ring, beam shaping can result in a very homogenous melt pool and, thus, high-quality components.
Another feature highlighted by the company is its advanced Continuous Additive Manufacturing System (CAMS) technology. This enables a completed job to be removed from the machine immediately after manufacture and replaced by a new build container, thereby reducing non-productive laser time between builds.

In addition to the hardware, Farsoon reported that the software has been further optimised in terms of the handling of many components in a single job.
In particular, Farsoon noted a single build job featuring over 21,000 components, all of which were manufactured without support structures. During component design, the company worked to ensure that component post-processing could be carried out automatically without manual processes.
“Together with Brose, we turned innovation into real production efficiency, a great example of what strong partnership and open technology can achieve,” stated Oliver Li, Managing Director of Farsoon Europe. “The combination of material, component design and perfectly matched printers thus represents a very valuable milestone for the future.”
It was stated that the new machine has been constructed entirely from recycled steel from Brose’s press shops, thereby helping the company meet strict CO2 targets.
Further information can be obtained at Farsoon’s booth at Formnext 2025. The company will be in Hall 11.0, Stand E11.
