Aurora Labs restructures board to target defence growth

Aurora Labs Ltd (A3D), based in Canning Vale, Australia, has announced a strategic board restructure to support growth in the defence sector. Succeeding Grant Mooney, David Trimboli has been named chairman, and Andrew Garth has been promoted to Executive Director – Strategy & Strategic Partnerships following the retirement of Terry Stinson.

Chairman
David Trimboli is an experienced global investor with significant experience in commodities financing and trading. He was formerly a long-serving senior coal trader at commodities trading group Glencore International AG. He was noted as having been a key member of the Glencore team when the group successfully completed its IPO in London and Hong Kong.
Trimboli has undertaken significant investment activities and holds diverse interests in commodities, industrial minerals, real estate and technology in Australia and internationally. He is the founder of Seefeld Investments, with offices in London, Zug and Perth and has been an active part of the company’s growth. He brings experience in cultivating partnerships and key commercial relationships globally.

Executive Director – Strategy & Strategic Partnerships
In planning for growth in the defence sector, Aurora has elevated Andrew Garth from the role of Non-Executive Director to the role of Executive Director – Strategy & Strategic Partnerships. The company has stated that this role will oversee and drive the increasing number of defence relationships as well as providing guidance as Aurora develops its business in advanced propulsion systems for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for defence.
As a credentialed senior defence advisor with formal qualifications as an aeronautical engineer, Garth’s previous roles have included serving as a Senior Program Manager at GKN Aerospace, where he was involved in the Joint Strike Fighter and Airbus projects, managing engineering teams and securing project revenues.
Within the Australian government, Garth served as a member of the Victorian Government Defence Council, General Manager of Centre for Defence Industry Capability, and Director of Defence Industry Innovation Centre.
Aurora stated that Garth’s leadership roles in both industry and government have provided him with insights into the defence and advanced manufacturing sectors, making him a well-known and respected industry figure.
Through his career, which spans over two decades, he has gained experience in leadership, strategic thinking, inter-organisational collaboration, and stakeholder and government relations, alongside offering services such as market strategy, trade control advice, and stakeholder relations.
