ASTM to hold its first Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence workshop
March 20, 2019
ASTM International, headquartered in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA, will hold its first ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence Workshop at the Auburn Marriot Opelika Resort & Spa at Grand National, Opelika, Alabama, USA, on Monday, March 25, 2019. The workshop is expected to offer an opportunity to learn from and engage with leading experts in Additive Manufacturing, and will consist of twelve interactive sessions.
It is hoped that participants will gain a unique and comprehensive snapshot of the entire AM value chain, including powder, design, processing, post-processing, non-destructive inspection, qualification, and certification. The workshop will also address gaps in standardisation and workforce development for AM technologies and how the newly formed ASTM AM Center of Excellence (AM CoE) is employing a combined approach of R&D and targeted standards development.
Session topics throughout the day will be:
- Feedstock
- Design for AM (DfAM)
- Materials & processing
- Post-processing
- Qualification & structural integrity
- Standardisation & certification
This workshop marks the first in the AM CoE planned new Education & Workforce Development (E&WD) Program, which is designed to provide training opportunities for various levels of the AM workforce. This first workshop will build towards a comprehensive, longer-term Training Certificate endorsed by the AM CoE. Each participant will receive a Verification of Completion, which may be applied as a credit toward the Training Certificate through the new programme at a later time.
The full programme schedule for the workshop is available from ASTM International. Registration is available at a discounted rate for ASTM Members and students.
