Trumpf, Ditzingen, Germany, has announced it will present a new edition of its TruPrint 5000 metal Additive Manufacturing machine at Formnext 2022, which it reports will be available with a green laser in the future. The company recently expanded its selection of metal powders for Additive Manufacturing, and will showcase the potential of new titanium, aluminium, stainless steel, tool steel alloys at the event.

Trumpf will also highlight the suitability of its machines for serial production. Currently, the company runs its in-house AM machines twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, to produce components for its own applications. The AM team at Trumpf support other departments within the company to identify and develop suitable applications. Additively manufactured components currently in series production include lens holders and motor coolers for laser systems.

“The advantages of Additive Manufacturing outweigh all conventional manufacturing processes for some of our parts. For example, the TruPrint 3000 is crucial for us to use in-house,” stated Richard Bannmüller, president and CEO of Trumpf Laser Technology. “Our customer Heraeus additively manufactures components for headphones, for example. However, there is still a lot of untapped potential in the industry, for example the series production of bicycle parts with metal printing. Series production of AM parts in the automotive industry is also conceivable.”

René Kreissl, Head of Additive Manufacturing, added, “Our robust systems deliver repeatable results, making them particularly suitable for industrial use. Our experience as a machine builder and laser specialist helps us here.”
