GF Machining Solutions opens new production centre in Biel
GF Machining Solutions (GFMS), Switzerland, a division of Georg Fischer AG, has opened its new production centre and headquarters in Biel, Switzerland. The new production centre is the result of a CHF 100 million investment by the company, and has taken two years to complete.
GFMS provides machine tools, automation solutions and customer services for the production of moulds, dies and high value-added metal parts. In summer 2018, it launched its first metal AM machine in collaboration with 3D Systems, South Carolina, USA, the DMP Factory 500.
According to GFMS, all production from its three former Swiss sites, Nidau, Ipsach and Luterbach, will now be co-located in the 44,000m2 Biel production centre. The new facility provides more than 13,000 m2 of space for production and assembly, while allowing room for a research and development centre and a modern application centre expected to enable customers to experience the company’s portfolio first-hand and attend training courses on site.
“From this new location, we will be able to strengthen our position as a global player, and at the same time rely on our Swiss roots,” stated Pascal Boillat, President GF Machining Solutions.
