PyroGenesis secures first titanium powder order under proposed US supply agreement

PyroGenesis Inc, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, has received its first commercial titanium powder order from a US-based materials distributor, following discussions regarding a potential monthly supply agreement.

The order is for Ti-6Al-4V fine-cut powder with a particle size range of 20–80 µm, a size range typically used in Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB). The unnamed distributor supplies customers in the US aerospace, defence, energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.

PyroGenesis had previously disclosed that it was in discussions with the distributor regarding a monthly supply agreement of up to 500 kg. According to the company, the customer has since indicated that its potential monthly requirement could reach 1,000 kg, although no commitment has been made for recurring orders at this volume.

“The contract announced today directly supports the strategic goals outlined in our April 29, 2026, press release: positioning the Additive Manufacturing Division for its next level of growth, with operations anticipated to be several times larger than those currently in place,” stated P Peter Pascali, President and CEO of PyroGenesis. “This relationship with a well-connected materials distributor serving both the aerospace and defence sectors will help us expand our customer base in these two key industries that we have identified as central to achieving those strategic goals.”

PyroGenesis developed its NexGen plasma atomisation technology for the production of spherical metal powders for Additive Manufacturing. The company has progressively scaled its commercial powder activities from customer samples to 100 kg orders and, in May 2023, announced its first tonne-scale order.

The company produces titanium powders in several particle size distributions for different manufacturing processes. Its fine-cut powders are primarily targeted at PBF-LB, while coarse cut powders are produced for Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-EB) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED).
