Radian Forge, based in Portsmouth, Virginia, USA, has closed a $2.5 million Series Seed Preferred financing round led by Veteran Ventures Capital (VVC). The investment will support the expansion of Radian Forge’s large-format Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) capacity for the US naval, maritime and defence sectors.

The financing was made through VVC’s Fund II, with additional participation from the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) and existing Radian Forge investors.

Radian Forge uses large-format WAAM, a form of Directed Energy Deposition using an electric arc (DED-Arc), to produce large metal components for naval, maritime and defence applications. The company states that its process can reduce production lead times by 40–80%.

“The United States cannot sustain naval power or rebuild its fleets without a responsive manufacturing base capable of producing critical components at the speed of the mission,” stated Joshua Weed, General Partner at Veteran Ventures Capital, who led the investment and will join Radian Forge’s Board of Directors. “Radian Forge is building the domestic manufacturing capacity needed to help close that gap.”

The latest financing follows plans announced in February 2026 for Radian Forge to invest $10.5 million in the expansion of its Portsmouth operations. The project is expected to create 53 jobs and received approval for a $265,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund.

“America has spent decades accepting manufacturing timelines that no longer match the urgency of the mission. We don’t accept them. Radian Forge is building the capacity to put critical components into the hands of our customers in weeks, not months. This investment allows us to move faster and scale that capability,” stated Jeff Yeager, CEO of Radian Forge.

“Veteran Ventures understands that this isn’t just a manufacturing problem—it’s a readiness problem—and that’s exactly the kind of partner we want beside us.”

Veteran Ventures Capital invests in dual-use national security technologies, with a focus on businesses led by military veterans. Its portfolio covers defence, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity and related technologies.
