AMCM, an EOS GmbH subsidiary headquartered in Starnberg, Germany, has opened a new production facility in Weilheim to expand its assembly and commissioning capacity for large-format metal Additive Manufacturing machines. According to the company, the expansion follows increased demand, including several orders for its AMCM M 8K Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) AM machine.

Developed in collaboration with the Bauer Group, the facility allows multiple large-scale machines to be assembled in parallel. The AMCM M 450, AMCM M 4K and AMCM M 8K, as well as future large-format machines, are expected to be assembled and commissioned at the site, depending on the product mix. The opening was attended by employees, partners and representatives of the Bauer Group.

“The new assembly facility in Weilheim is an important milestone in AMCM’s growth strategy. With additional capacity and a production environment designed for efficiency, we are creating the conditions to sustainably meet the growing demand for our Additive Manufacturing systems,” stated Martin Bullemer, Managing Director at AMCM.

AMCM’s machines are used in aerospace, energy, research and other manufacturing applications. The AMCM M 8K is designed for metal materials, with a build volume of 800 × 800 × 1,200 mm, with larger configurations also available. Applications cited by the company include rocket components, heat exchangers, power-generation systems and other complex metal parts.

The Weilheim facility is equipped with a 10-tonne crane with a 25 m span and an additional 5-tonne crane to support assembly, logistics and commissioning. The project followed a letter of intent signed with the Bauer Group in July 2024, with the facility commissioned on August 1, 2026, around two years later.

AMCM stated that the project developed from a longstanding business relationship with the Bauer Group and that the companies plan to continue the partnership. The additional facility increases AMCM’s capacity in Germany for the assembly and commissioning of large-format metal Additive Manufacturing machines for customers worldwide.
