Colnago’s Steelnovo road bike wins 2026 ADI Compasso d’Oro

Colnago, based in Cambiago, Italy, has announced that its Steelnovo road bike has been awarded the 2026 ADI Compasso d’Oro industrial design award, placing it within the ADI Compasso d’Oro Historical Collection.

The Compasso d′Oro was established in 1954, and it is the highest honour in the field of industrial design in Italy.
The Steelnovo is said to combine advanced racing geometry with innovative manufacturing techniques. The frame is constructed with a system of additively manufactured internal lugs. The lugs, produced in 316L stainless steel, allow a perfect fit in the frame, with an accuracy of less than a hundredth of a millimetre, states the company.

The Steelnovo’s lugs are manufactured via Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) on an ATLIX TruPrint 3000, developed with Additiva Srl and ATLIX.
Metal Additive Manufacturing magazine highlighted Colnago’s use of Additive Manufacturing in the Steelnovo in the Spring 2026 issue.
