EOS partners with Constellium on aluminium AM alloys

EOS GmbH, headquartered in Krailling, Germany, has announced a strategic partnership with Constellium, based in Paris, France, under which EOS will add Constellium Aheadd CP1 to its materials portfolio as EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1. EOS Aluminium Al5X1 will remain in the EOS materials portfolio, to be renamed EOS Aluminium Constellium Al5X1, and will be added to Constellium’s alloy portfolio.

This partnership combines EOS’ expertise in AM technologies, materials, global deployment and industrialisation with Constellium’s proven capabilities in advanced aluminium alloy development. The collaboration extends beyond these two materials and establishes a long-term framework for the development of next-generation aluminium alloys for Additive Manufacturing.

For customers, the partnership expands access to advanced aluminium materials across EOS and AMCM metal systems with validated process parameters and application expertise, enabling faster qualification and supporting reliable industrial-scale production.

With the addition of EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1, EOS further strengthens its materials portfolio for industrial applications. The material will be available from EOS in August 2026.

Key benefits of EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1 include:

  • Higher strength compared to traditional alloys, combined with good elongation
  • Simplified heat treatment with no quenching required and flexible heating and cooling cycles
  • Good thermal stability for demanding industrial applications
  • Free of volatile elements such as Mg and Zn, supporting stable processing at high laser power and increased productivity
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Good electrical and thermal conductivity
  • Easily anodised and well suited for electrochemical polishing

Typical applications include heat exchangers; semiconductor industry applications such as heat sinks and wafers; components requiring high-quality surface finishing, polishing, and anodisation; parts exposed to corrosive environments as an alternative to coated traditional alloys; and lightweight structural components with moderate mechanical load requirements.

EOS states that many existing AlSi10Mg applications can benefit from EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1’s improved processing characteristics and performance advantages.

Complementing the aluminium alloy portfolio, EOS Aluminium Constellium Al5X1 provides a high-strength, high-elongation, and anodisable solution for demanding aerospace, transportation, and motorsport applications.
