3YOURMIND, Berlin, Germany, has released its AI-powered Technical Drawing Analysis, a new feature offered within its Part Identification software. Designed to accelerate spare part digitisation, the software can analyse technical drawings (2D) up to 200x faster than manual methods. The solution is now ITAR-compliant and available through secure cloud hosting, making it particularly suitable for defence and government use, as well as for industries where equipment sustainment presents operational vulnerability.

“In many industries, technical drawings remain the primary reference for manufacturing spare parts,” said Stephan Galozy, Chief Product Officer at 3YOURMIND. “Our goal is to unlock the full potential of this existing data, enabling organisations to make faster, more informed manufacturing decisions. By streamlining this otherwise manually-intensive process, we’re helping to accelerate the next step: creating the 3D file. Our long-term vision for this functionality is text-to-3D.”

AI-powered Technical Drawing Analysis extracts and interprets data across various formats and layouts, using optical character recognition (OCR) and large language models (LLMs) to extract and analyse metadata from title blocks, drawing notes, and annotations. The software then uses this information to evaluate spare part manufacturability, determining whether parts can be produced using standard advanced manufacturing methods, including Additive Manufacturing techniques like Laser and Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB and PBF-EB), Material Extrusion (MEX), Vat Polymerisation, Directed Energy Deposition, and Binder Jetting.

Technical Drawing Analysis can also forecast cost and lead time, thus shortening the decision-making time when considering whether the legacy parts should be manufactured through traditional or Additive Manufacturing. The software also helps engineers identify which parts to digitise by extracting key information, such as notes and annotations.

The feature also analyses individual parts or processes thousands of technical drawings simultaneously, streamlining the process of creating new 3D models and addressing a common bottleneck in equipment sustainment workflows. In addition, it addresses long-term challenges of digitising spare parts by creating a centralised hub with standardised data practices.

Al-Powered Technical Drawing Analysis is now available as a free trial to qualifying companies. More information is available here.
