Ronald Britton, a supplier of metal powders based in Rochdale, UK, is celebrating more than eighty years in business. Founded in 1945 by Ronald Britton and his wife, BC, the company has evolved over eight decades to become a specialist supplier of metal powders to customers worldwide.

The business began operating from premises in Manchester, before acquiring its own mill in Kettleshulme, Cheshire. In 1969, the company relocated to Rochdale, where it has remained ever since, moving to its current premises in 2023.

Sinter-based Additive Manufacturing: Beyond the hype, towards industrial success

Today, Ronald Britton focuses exclusively on the supply of metal powders from stock, offering a range of copper, bronze, tin, zinc, aluminium and iron powders in irregular and spherical forms. These materials serve a variety of applications, including diamond tools and abrasives, metallic coatings, liquid metal finishes, cold-cast and composite products, metal finishing, lubricants, brazing alloys, Additive Manufacturing and friction materials.

The company supplies quantities ranging from 1 kg to full pallet loads, with flexible packaging options to meet customer requirements. Stock items are typically dispatched within 48 hours, with Ronald Britton serving customers in more than 20 countries and providing the necessary international shipping documentation.

Ronald Britton holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications and has achieved an EcoVadis Silver sustainability rating, which the company states places it among the top 8% of businesses assessed worldwide.

“Eighty years on, the reasons customers come to us have not changed: powder on the shelf, people who know it, and a quick answer,” stated Galen Reynolds, Managing Director of Ronald Britton. “What we are changing is how easy we are to find. Our new website sets out the technical data for the grades we stock, so engineers can check a specification before they pick up the phone.”
