This conference lifts the bonnet on the technologies and processes that are essential to the UK economy winning the global weight race: manufacturing planes, trains and automobiles using less weight to improve efficiency and reduce costs as we make the transition to a low carbon economy.

Presentations and demonstrations from: ACT Blades, BAE Systems, Laing O’Rourke, Lotus, Northern Aircraft, Shape Machining, Tata Steel, Tinsley Bridge, Ultimate Battery Company, University of Sheffield…with many more to be confirmed.

Sectors and technologies covered: Aerospace, Automotive, Construction, Rail, Space, Composites Manufacturing, Machining, Casting, High Strength & Light Weight Metals, Additive Manufacturing, Battery Technology.

Tours to showcase the AMRC’s current lightweighting capabilities in: AMRC Composite Centre, AMRC Factory 2050, AMRC Factory of the Future, AMRC Design and Prototyping Centre.

The two-day event will be hosted in what is fast becoming the UK’s national lightweighting centre in a region that is home to McLaren, with its newly built Composites Technology Centre, Boeing Sheffield, the Rolls-Royce Advanced Blade Casting Facility and a growing cluster of innovative design and manufacturing companies including PES, Metalysis, Metlase, Nikken and Maher.

 

The conference will hear from:
