AM Pioneers, based in Esslingen am Neckar, Germany, has announced that the open house for its Technology Center was a success. The event welcomed participants from industry and research to view metal and ceramic Additive Manufacturing methods such as micro-AM and Binder Jetting (BJT) as well as Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) and other modern industrial technologies.

The event was hosted by Christian Pfleiderer, CEO of AM Pioneers and led by a company introduction by Thomas Ihring, Head of Engineering. The technical programme began with a series of presentations focusing on current developments, technologies and applications in the field of metal, micro and ceramic Additive Manufacturing.

The programme included:

  • Eyal Manzoor – Arc Impact Acquisition Corporation, owner of Desktop Metal – opened the programme with a review of Desktop Metal’s development and a strategic outlook on future market and technology trends
  • David Clemens – Carbolite – presented an overview of modern sintering furnace technologies and their industrial applications
  • Peter Quadbeck – Offenburg University of Applied Sciences – introduced a medical technology application for the production of biodegradable molybdenum components using BJT Additive Manufacturing
  • Max Power Life Science – showcased further medical technology use cases, including the manufacture of implants and surgical instruments using metal BJT
  • Tassilo Moritz – Fraunhofer IKTS – provided insights into Additive Manufacturing processes for the production of diamond SiC components
  • Marouene Zouaoui – EAC Metal – presented a range of consumer goods applications, including design objects and statues to bicycle accessories and jewellery
  • Stefan Zilm – Maxon Group – highlighted current developments in ceramic Additive Manufacturing
  • Nicolai Sauer – Sinto Advanced Ceramics – demonstrated industrial applications and practical examples from the field of technical ceramics
  • Peter Hautke – BRIGHT – concluded the event with the presentation of an electronic connector for automotive applications, realised using micro Additive Manufacturing

One aspect of the event highlighted by AM Pioneers was the exclusive tour of the new Technology Center. Led by Ihring, visitors were able to view how modern Additive Manufacturing technologies work in practice, from industrial AM machines and sintering furnaces to specialised software solutions.

“We are Europe’s leading partner for consulting and implementation of 3D printing technologies in industrial manufacturing. Founded in 2021, AM Pioneers was established with the goal of supporting manufacturing companies in integrating Additive Manufacturing into their existing manufacturing processes,” AM Pioneers said in a statement. “Rapid technological developments are now enabling companies to replace conventional manufacturing methods with additive processes, or to apply them in hybrid manufacturing that create real added value – resulting in significant gains in efficiency, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.”
