voestalpine adds two Additive Manufacturing centres in China

Austria’s voestalpine has reported that it opened two new Additive Manufacturing centres in China at the end of last year, one in Shanghai and one in Dongguan. Both AM competence centres will focus on toolmaking, primarily for the automotive and consumer goods industries, as well as for medical technology applications.
The investment builds on the group’s position within China, where it is benefitting from growing demand seen across its key customer segments including the railway infrastructure, household goods and energy industries. Thanks to the country’s economic upswing following the coronavirus pandemic, voestalpine’s forty Chinese-based sites generated €557 million for the group in the business year 2019/20.
“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, our broad regional and technological positioning, paired with a consistent focus on innovative product solutions, has once again proved its worth. As a high-tech provider, the current economic upswing in China is directly benefitting us,” commented Herbert Eibensteiner, Chairman of the Management Board of voestalpine AG.
In addition to the two new sites in China, the group has five other AM competence centres around the world, including facilities in Düsseldorf, Taiwan, Singapore, Toronto and Houston.
