Yuichi Sugiyama, President Director of Sugiyama Co Ltd., Kisosaki, Japan, has shared that the company has manufactured golf clubs using ColdMetalFusion (CMF) technology, developed by Headmade Materials GmbH, headquartered in Würzburg, Germany. The company states that the Ingeavor golf clubs are the first in Japan to be manufactured using this Additive Manufacturing technology.

The putter and iron club were displayed at the Japan Golf Fair which took place earlier this year in Yokohama, Japan.

Sugiyama was reportedly the first company to adopt ColdMetalFusion in Japan.

CMF is a sinter-based AM technology designed for the cost-efficient series production of complex metal components made from performance metals such as titanium and Inconel. The technology operates with an open ecosystem of industrially proven equipment for manufacturing, debinding, and sintering. Users can leverage existing infrastructure and scale production flexibly, from prototyping to high-volume manufacturing, without the need for proprietary systems.

Headmade Materials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sugiyama in August 2023 to support the rollout of ColdMetalFusion in Japan.
