With over 40 years of experience, Wilting offers a combination of CNC machining, Additive Manufacturing and final assembly. Initially, the company used a manual sieving process when operating its DMP Flex 350 metal Additive Manufacturing machines from 3D Systems. This required extensive operator handling and took three hours to extract, screen, and prepare the metal powder for reuse, causing a bottleneck in production.

To expand the company’s AM operations, Wilting therefore needed a more efficient and automated sieving solution that would increase productivity and shorten AM machine changeover times.

Following the introduction of the Russell AMPro Sieve Station, Wilting reports it has seen significant efficiency gains in powder handling. The vacuum-based system allows operators to extract powder in just ten minutes, compared to the forty minutes previously required to empty the overflow container.

In addition, the automated unpacking and sieving process has cut the operating times by 50% and reduced the total sieving process from three hours to just ninety minutes. The Russell AMPro Sieve Station’s vacuum connection system connects directly to the AM machine’s overflow, eliminating manual bottle handling and increasing operator safety.

Wilting also benefits from integrating the Russell Vibrasonic Deblinding System, which improves screening quality, extends mesh life, and reduces downtime, further streamlining production.
