Markforged appoints Mark Schwartz as CFO

April 1, 2021

Markforged, Watertown, Massachusetts, USA, has appointed Mark Schwartz as Chief Financial Officer, effective April 1, 2021, replacing interim CFO Assad Zipori who will now lead Corporate Development and Strategy.

In line with Markforged’s move to go public, Schwartz’s twenty-plus years of experience has been as a public company CFO, leading capital markets transactions and as part of management teams at high-growth hardware manufacturing and SaaS and AI companies.

“Markforged’s combination of software, hardware, and materials make it uniquely positioned to capture growing market opportunities and empower manufacturers to create more resilient and agile supply chains,” commented Schwartz. “This is a pivotal time in Markforged’s trajectory, and I am excited to work with the team to accelerate growth and execute on the company’s strategic plan so that customers can build anything they imagine.”

Schwartz came to Markforged following on from his role as CFO of Trax, a provider of computer vision and AI in the retail sector. Prior to that, he served as CFO & EVP Strategy & Corporate Development at Fabrinet, provider of precision optical and electromechanical engineering and manufacturing services.

Schwartz has also acted as advisor to, and investor in, SaaS and manufacturing companies across telecom, digital media, and healthcare. Prior to these roles, Schwartz was an attorney specialising in M&A transactions, private placements and technology licensing.

“Mark Schwartz is a seasoned financial executive with deep, relevant experience and a track record of driving results and accelerating growth,” stated Shai Terem, Markforged president and CEO. “He’s a strong addition to our leadership team, and his experience and track record as a public company CFO will be invaluable as we prepare to become a public company. I look forward to working with him and am confident his leadership will play a crucial role in fulfilling our vision to reinvent manufacturing and execute for our customers.”
