Fives AddUp plans US production of FormUp 750 metal AM machine
Fives AddUp, the metal Additive Manufacturing subsidiary of France’s Fives Group, has announced plans to establish US manufacturing capabilities for its FormUp 750 large-format metal AM machine. Initial industrialisation activities are expected to begin in 2027 at Fives Machining Systems Inc’s existing facility in Hebron, Ohio, USA.
The FormUp 750 is being designed and developed by Fives AddUp’s engineering teams in France. Machines for the European market will be manufactured and assembled in France, while planned US manufacturing will serve the North American market.
The FormUp 750 is a Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) metal AM machine with a build volume of 750 x 750 x 1,000 mm. Building on technology used in the company’s FormUp 350, it can be configured with up to twelve lasers and is intended for the industrial production of large, complex components.
Target applications include aerospace, defence, space, energy and maritime. According to Fives AddUp, the machine’s build volume enables manufacturers to produce larger components as single parts, consolidate assemblies, reduce joining operations or manufacture multiple sizeable parts in a single build.
The FormUp 750 is also intended for integration into automated Additive Manufacturing production environments. Fives AddUp’s digital suite supports build preparation, production management, monitoring, traceability and machine data.
The planned manufacturing operation in Hebron will complement Fives AddUp’s existing North American presence, including its Solution Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The facility provides application development, automation and integration, training and service capabilities for customers introducing Additive Manufacturing into industrial production.
