BLT and Siemens partner to develop Additive Manufacturing systems

Xi’an Bright Laser Technologies (BLT), Xi’an, China, and Siemens China have signed a strategic cooperation agreement establishing a long-term partnership enabling the companies explore the construction of digital factories and the development and production of metal Additive Manufacturing equipment, amongst other fields. Under the partnership, Siemens will provide automation and drive products, as well as corresponding support services, whilst BLT will carry out application development and other work for the resultant products.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Xue Lei, Chairman and General Manager, BLT; Yang Donghui, Deputy General Manager, BLT; Karsten Heuser, head of Global Additive Manufacturing, Siemens; Dr Yao Jun, Senior VP and General Manager, Sales Region West, Digital Industries, Siemens.

“Additive Manufacturing can significantly enhance the production flexibility of manufacturing enterprises and open up new opportunities for the growth of the manufacturing sectors,” stated Dr Yao Jun. “Siemens has digital solutions covering the entire industry chain of Additive Manufacturing, which can provide more advanced automation and driving products, more diverse applications, and more intelligent design software for additive manufacturing enterprises, fully unleashing their production potential. Through this strategic cooperation, Siemens and BLT will open a new chapter of digital technology-based cooperation, empowering Additive Manufacturing to be implemented in more industries, and assisting the manufacturing industry in accelerating high-quality development.”

Yang Donghui added, “BLT has been cooperating with Siemens for many years, and we hope Siemens can work with us to explore, innovate and assist BLT to develop more intelligent, stable, high quality and efficient metal 3D printing system, and jointly promote the development process of Industry 4.0.”

Following the signing, the Siemens delegation also visited the BLT exhibition hall and intelligent manufacturing plants. The companies also held an in-depth discussion focused on the current status and prospects of metal Additive Manufacturing application development.
