Altair, Troy, Michigan, USA, in partnership with SLM Solutions Group AG, Elise and Renishaw, will present simulation and artificial intelligence solutions for Additive Manufacturing at Formnext 2021.

On show will be an additively manufactured e-drive housing prototype for small-series sports cars, presented alongside a known German sports car manufacturer and SLM Solutions. The use case is intended to showcase the ability of AM to realise high-performance e-drives, enabled by simulation-drive design. Engineers here have achieved an e-drive which is reported to be 10% lighter and 100% more rigid.

Elise, soon to join the Altair Partner Alliance, will showcase its low-code visual programming software for AM design processes. This platform is intended to automate product development from Computer Aided Design (CAD) to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) across domains and software tools in a single environment.

Alongside Renishaw, Altair will also present AI-driven quality assurance processes. These illustrate an approach that utilises machine learning to both accelerate production processes and reduce scrap rates.

“Exploring these use cases, Formnext visitors will experience how Altair’s solutions and workflows serve manufacturing realities, all while gaining a competitive edge in the design process,” stated Dr Pietro Cervellera, senior VP, EMEA, Altair. “With the solutions presented, our customers ensure part performance and manufacturability, and we leverage AI to drive quality assurance for manufacturing processes.”
