Rosswag expands after Eplus3D and qualloy MoU

Eplus3D, headquartered in Hangzhou, China, and German companies Rosswag Engineering, Pfinztal, and qualloy, Düsseldorf, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) alongside Rosswag’s planned installation of an Eplus3D EP-M550 metal Additive Manufacturing machine. The new Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) AM machine will be operated using qualloy metal powders, with the partners working together on material qualification and application development.

Rosswag Engineering intends to install the EP-M550 at its new Additive Manufacturing facility, currently under construction. The machine, which offers a build volume of 550 × 550 × 450 mm and is equipped with eight lasers, is scheduled to become operational in June 2026 and will be used for customer-specific testing, validation, and application development.

Under the terms of the MoU, qualloy powders are expected to be qualified for use on Eplus3D systems, with Rosswag contributing to process validation and testing. The companies will collaborate on parameter development and material qualification activities.

“By combining our large-scale, industrial LPBF systems with Rosswag’s application expertise and qualloy’s material excellence, we are creating a fully integrated ecosystem that significantly lowers the barrier for true serial Additive Manufacturing,” stated Enis Jost, Deputy General Manager, Eplus3D Tech GmbH. “This collaboration is not just about technology, but about delivering validated, production-ready solutions with great part pricing that enable our customers to scale with confidence.”

Under the MoU, qualloy metal powders designed for Eplus3D AM machines will be systematically qualified in their Innovation Center in Korntal-Münchingen. Following qualification, the materials will be available to all Eplus3D customers with validated process parameters and powder specifications directly via the qualloy online shop.

In order to achieve this, all parties will engage in joint material qualification and parameter development. qualloy will act as a supply chain facilitator, whereas Rosswag will contribute its expertise in qualification and testing according to industry standards of components produced on Eplus3D machines. Together, the parties aim to validate industrial-grade process performance and develop user-ready applications and benchmarking capabilities.

Rosswag’s new machine is particularly aimed at applications in energy machinery, pressure-bearing components, heat exchangers, and broader industrial applications. These fields require reliable, validated manufacturing processes and benefit significantly from the design freedom and scalability of large-format metal Additive Manufacturing.

“The EP-M550 combines a compact machine design with very high productivity and a large build envelope. This is an important step toward larger and functionally optimised LPBF components,” stated Ing Sven Donisi, CEO, Rosswag. “It allows us to begin closing the gap between today’s additively manufactured parts and complex large-scale forged and machined components. Combined with our integrated process chain, we are well positioned to bring Additive Manufacturing into industrial-scale applications.”

All three companies will display their technologies at Rapid.Tech3D in Erfurt, Germany, from May 5-7. Eplus3D will be at booth 2-316 and qualloy/Rosswag at booth 2-228.
