Farsoon launches fine laser spot metal AM technology

Farsoon Technologies, headquartered in Changsha, China, will showcase its Fine Laser Spot metal Additive Manufacturing technology at this year’s Rapid + TCT 2026 in Boston, from April 14–16. Supporting materials such as titanium and copper alloys, the solution achieves dimensional accuracy down to 0.03 mm and material density up to 99.99%, enabling high-performance parts with reduced post-processing and improved production efficiency.

Ultra-fine manufacturing
Built on Farsoon’s Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) technology, the new solution enables the production of end-use or near-net-shape components with minimal finishing requirements. It supports ultra-thin wall structures down to 0.07 mm and delivers surface roughness as low as Ra 2.0 μm, meeting both functional and aesthetic requirements for precision components. The company states that the high material density ensures mechanical properties comparable to traditionally manufactured parts, supporting long-term durability in demanding applications.
End-to-end system enables stable serial production
Beyond part-level performance, Farsoon’s approach focuses on enabling stable, scalable production. Its integrated process chain, from parameter development to quality control, ensures consistent results across batches, helping manufacturers transition from prototyping to serial production with confidence. The company states that compared to traditional methods such as CNC machining or welding, the solution reduces process complexity, shortens production cycles, and lowers overall manufacturing costs, particularly for complex or highly integrated designs.

Application case: integrated copper alloy cold plate
A key application example is the production of copper alloy cold plates for advanced thermal management. By combining TPMS (triply periodic minimal surface) structures with conventional cooling channel designs, Farsoon enables highly efficient heat exchange within a fully integrated component. The system’s ultra-fine processing capability allows precise control of internal features, with layer thicknesses down to 10 μm and minimum structure sizes smaller than those achievable with traditional manufacturing, states the company.
Unlike conventionally assembled or welded designs, the additively manufactured cold plate is produced as a single piece, reducing leakage risks while improving structural integrity. The optimised internal geometry is intended to enhance thermal performance, targeting applications such as electric vehicles, AI data centres, and industrial systems.
