Ursa Major expands AM facility to advance missile production capacity

Ursa Major Technologies Inc., located in Berthoud, Colorado, USA, has completed a key phase of its manufacturing and scaling strategy, marking a decisive step in its transition from a propulsion-focused developer to a contractor supplying advanced weapons systems at scale. The company has expanded its machining and Additive Manufacturing capacity, brought a new solid rocket motor test site online, and invested in vehicle integration and assembly.

“Ursa Major was built to solve one of the hardest problems in defence: delivering high-performance systems at scale and at a price the warfighter can actually use,” stated Chris Spagnoletti, CEO of Ursa Major. “With this phase complete, we are producing the propulsion, the vehicle systems, and the infrastructure needed to deliver real capability on relevant timelines.”

Facility expansions across the company’s sites are increasing production capacity, supporting full-system integration, and extending test infrastructure.

The company’s Youngstown, Ohio, facility has undergone a tenfold expansion of its Additive Manufacturing operations with six advanced machines. This reportedly has increased build speeds up to 8x, enabling flexible, high-rate production. Ursa Major noted that it has reduced pre-processing timelines from weeks to hours, enabling rapid iteration and scalable production without retooling

Backed by more than $300 million in investment and a vertically integrated production model, Ursa Major stated that it is on track to produce both complete missile systems and propulsion technologies for hypersonic, solid missile, and in-space propulsion applications.
