Xiris collaborates with Amazemet on high-quality powder recycling
November 4, 2021
Xiris Automation Inc., Burlington, Ontario, Canada, has announced a recent collaboration with Amazemet Sp. z o. o., a spin-off company of the University of Warsaw, Poland, in a project relating to the automation of plasma materials recycling. The project incorporates a plasma atomisation process using patented ultrasonic technology to create a cost- and energy-efficient powder production method which can utilise recycled scrap materials to manufacture high-quality powder for Additive Manufacturing.
As part of this collaboration, Xiris will provide machine-vision based technology that combines 120+ dB HDR Short-Wave InfraRed (SWIR) imaging. This will enable the recording and closed-loop control of processes to assist research opportunities during both the development of new materials and the optimisation of powder production processes. Additionally, using automation tools available with the Xiris WeldStudio™ software, the companies intend to begin the scaling of the process in order to enable the large-scale recycling of materials like titanium alloys.
Amazemet will be an exhibitor at Formnext 2021.
