VBN Components, Uppsala, Sweden, has appointed Johan Bäckström as its new CEO. Bäckström has been working in parallel with Martin Nilsson, the previous CEO, since June 1, but will now continue independently.

The company states that Bäckström has twenty years of experience at high-tech companies where quality, internationalisation, and business development have been top priorities. He has held a number of different positions leading sales and services in previous companies, and has broad experience from managing international B2B and B2G sales, to the marketing and export of highly-advanced technical systems and services in high-tech companies.

His experience has included setting up international consortiums and managing global sales from Sweden, as well as establishing sales channels through agents, distributors, and system integrators globally. Bäckström holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Engineering Physics from Uppsala University.

“I am very pleased to have been afforded the trust as CEO of VBN Components since I have followed VBN’s successful development for many years,” commented Bäckström. “VBN is a business with fantastic people, customers and products, that has been awarded many eminent prizes over the years. I look forward to scaling up VBN’s operations and sales towards profitable success.”
