US Department of Defense Advanced Manufacturing Workshop nears

The 2023 Department of Defense (DoD) Advanced Manufacturing Workshop is set to take place at the Lockheed Martin Center for Leadership Excellence in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, July 18-19, 2023. This year’s theme will be “Advanced Manufacturing Crisis Response in a Contested Logistics Environment”.

The workshop is being conducted by the DoD Manufacturing Technology Program and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Materiel Readiness (DASD(MR)) with support from DoD’s Joint Additive Manufacturing Working Group, America Makes, and the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences.

The objectives are to identify gaps and opportunities in advanced manufacturing implementation for contingency operations, and to identify gaps or revisions to the Advanced Manufacturing Crisis Response Playbook. The event seeks to present a unique opportunity for industry, DoD leaders and functional stakeholders to collaborate on key issues that pertain to leveraging advanced manufacturing capabilities to support an ongoing crisis.

All registrants will participate as a member of one of four breakout groups: Industrial Base Response (DIB and OIB), In-Theater Fabrication and Repair, Data Management, or Organisational Structure and Employment.

The event agenda is as follows:

July 18

08:30-08:45 – Welcome and Introduction

08:45-09:30 -Senior Leader Introductions

09:30-10:00 – Introduction of the Scenario and Play 1 Overview

10:00-10:15 – Break into Working Groups

10:15-10:30 – Introductions within the Working Group

10:30-12:00 -Working Group Games Play 1

13:00-13:30 – Scenario Briefing and Play 2 Overview

13:30-16:00 – Working Group Games Play 2

16:00-16:30 – Outbriefs within the Working Groups

July 19

08:30 – Arrive and Proceed Directly to the Working Groups

08:30-09:00 – Recap Day 1 and Final Adjustments to Play 2 as needed

09:00-09:30 – Scenario Briefing and Play 3 Overview

09:30-12:00 – Working Group Games Play 3

1300-14:30 – Review Working Group Outputs of all three Plays and build briefing

14:30-16:00 – Outbrief by Working Group

16:00-16:30 – Final Remarks
