SYPAQ partners with Amiga Engineering for Corvo X drone manufacture

Amiga Engineering, Tullamarine, Australia, has announced a partnership with SYPAQ Systems, Port Melbourne, focused on the production of Corvo X under the Australian Army’s DEF129 Uncrewed Aerial System Program.
Corvo X is a military-grade small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS), featuring an innovative, thrust-vectored VTOL configuration. The aircraft is lightweight, man-packable and coupled with advanced autonomy, payload and mesh network capabilities.
Amiga is reported to operate the largest metal and polymer Additive Manufacturing service bureau in Australia, and of particular relevance for Corvo X production, is the country’s only certified company to additively manufacture Scalmalloy.
“Our team is honoured to support SYPAQ in the manufacturing of components for Corvo X, by leveraging advanced materials such as Scalmalloy and cutting-edge production techniques to help bring their innovative design to life,” stated Dee Bourchier, Amiga Engineering Head of Media and Marketing.
Amiga Engineering is one of many Australian defence companies SYPAQ is partnering with to deliver the Australian Army’s DEF129 sUAS Program, establishing SYPAQ as a trusted sovereign Defence Force partner for sUAS capability development.
“Our partnership with Amiga Engineering underscores SYPAQ’s commitment to building a truly sovereign capability with trusted Australian partners,” added Amanda Holt, CEO and Managing Director of SYPAQ. “By combining SYPAQ’s innovation with Amiga’s precision engineering and manufacturing expertise, we’re ensuring Corvo X showcases the depth of advanced manufacturing capabilities right here in Melbourne.”
The Corvo X has achieved an investment exceeding 90% Australian Industry Capability (AIC). It has been developed in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force over a number of years with all the design, manufacture and support of Corvo X to be completed in Victoria.
SYPAQ will showcase Corvo X at Indo-Pacific 2025 and will continue to highlight our other technology partners who help deliver Corvo X into service with the Australian Army.
