Special Interest Seminars provide strategic overview of metal powder sector at Euro PM2025

The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA), organiser of the Euro PM2025 Congress & Exhibition, has announced a comprehensive programme of Special Interest Seminars (SIS) in addition to the extensive technical sessions. Scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from September 14-17, the SIS will highlight cutting-edge research, address critical industry challenges, and foster discussions that could significantly influence the future of Powder Metallurgy.
The Special Interest Seminars have a rich history at Euro PM events, consistently providing attendees with a broader, more strategic outlook than the more focused technical papers can.
This year, a deliberate effort has been made to include speakers from beyond the immediate PM community, introducing diverse trends and alternative viewpoints. Presentations will cover a broader range across technologies, materials, and application sectors, including new focuses on automotive, energy, and critical raw materials.
The SIS programme covers a range of vital areas, and includes:
- ‘Defence Applications of AM’ – an exploration of metal powder quality for military uses and advancements in aluminium alloys for Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing
- ‘HIP in Oil & Gas Industry’ – advanced consolidation techniques
- ‘Digital Tools in Hard Materials’ – a showcase of computational tools for optimising material properties.
- ‘Sustainability, Standards and EU Policies for PM’ – addresses industry responsibility, covering LCA data and EU policy impact
- ‘Power Generation’ – highlights PM’s role in energy transition, discussing near-net-shape manufacturing and materials for hydrogen solutions.
- ‘European MIM’s Horizon’ will provide insights and cover AI-based powder qualification and energy costs
- ‘Scenarios in the Automotive Sector’ – provides outlooks on the accelerating transition to electric vehicles
- ‘Recycling of RE-based permanent magnets in Europe’ – will address resource security.
The congress will also feature a Round Table ‘PM and Critical Raw Materials: Issues and Opportunities’, enabling expert discussion on challenges and sustainable practices.
The full technical programme, as well as early discounted registration rates, are now available.
