Sigma Labs receives ASME innovation award

June 30, 2021

Sigma Labs, Inc, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, was recognised at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ AM Tech Forum, which took place on June 17, as the winner of the Best-in-Class Innovation Award for Additive Manufacturing Measurement and Analysis.

“Our entire company is thrilled to have won the best-in-class innovation award for measurement and analysis,” stated Mark Ruport, president and CEO of Sigma Labs. “It is gratifying to be recognised for the work we are doing – along with our partners and standards organisations – to improve quality and accelerate the growth and prosperity of the Additive Manufacturing industry. Most importantly, this achievement was a total team effort.”

Approximately forty demonstration videos, spanning five technology categories, were submitted to the judging panel. Sigma Labs’ entry showcased the latest release of PrintRite3D.

Lauralyn McDaniel, ASME’s Industry Events Manager, stated, “Winners were chosen based on multiple criteria, including impact on speed, cost, and quality; range of potential use across applications and industries; level of innovation—from an improvement to a game changer; and how likely they would purchase.”

The scores were tallied from a diverse judging panel of AM industry experts in sectors including medical devices, aerospace, automotive, energy, consumer goods. Ratings from the audience were also taken into account in choosing the winners for the following categories: machines and processes, materials, software, measurement and analysis and startup.
