Rosswag receives European patent for its additively manufactured milling tools

Rosswag GmbH, Pfinztal, Germany, has received the European patent (EP 3 186 024 B1) for a disc-type milling cutter produced using metal Additive Manufacturing. Through the incorporation of conformal cooling channels in the body of the tool, a functionally optimised supply of cooling lubricant is delivered to key areas, which Rosswag states can increase the tool life by more than 50%.

Rosswag is reported to have initiated a number of scientific projects that look to utilise AM for the supply of coolant lubricant in cutting tools used in milling machining.

This is the second Rosswag product using AM to receive a European patent, following the introduction of its first patented tools in the field of cutting applications together with ARNO tools in 2018.
