Registration opens for Additive Manufacturing Americas 2017

Registration is now open for Additive Manufacturing Americas 2017, to be held at the Pasadena Convention Center, Pasadena, California, USA, December 6-8, 2017. Organised by Tarsus, the conference and exhibition will be dedicated to the use of AM in three key sectors — healthcare, aerospace and automotive — and will feature a series of seminars and discussions on the show floor, focused on AM applications and the allied ecosystem of advanced design and manufacturing technologies. Presentations will be given by industry experts and end users, including speakers from the Mayo Clinic, NASA and Boeing.

Dr Samir Mardini, M.D, Surgical Director at the Obaid Center for Reconstructive Transplant Surgery of the Mayo Clinic, will open the conference with his presentation titled ‘Personal Approaches to Additive Manufacturing through Your Consultant’, which Tarsus says will give visitors a unique perspective on the complexities of custom made additively manufactured implants, and the potential of AM to change patient outcomes.
Dr Mardini recently led a team of nine specialists to complete a rare face transplant with the aid of Additive Manufacturing, and will present case studies of hand and face transplantation during the keynote.
A further keynote address will be given by Dr Raymond Clinton, Associate Director in the Technical Science and Technology Office at NASA. Dr Clinton will discuss the use of AM in NASA’s manufacturing initiatives and how it can help optimise In Space Manufacturing (ISM), as well as its use in the manufacturing of liquid rocket engine components and quality standards for spaceflight hardware.
Mark Kasprzak, Chief Industrial Engineer at Boeing, will also give a presentation on the role of Additive Manufacturing as a driver of innovation, agility and efficient business models.
In addition to the conference at Additive Manufacturing Americas, visitors to the show floor will be able to see live demonstrations of the latest machinery.
