Registration deadline nears for metal Additive Manufacturing in construction summer school

The University of Bologna, Italy, has announced that the registration deadline is nearing for its Metal 3D Printing in Construction summer school. The lecture series is intended for students, PhDs, young researchers and professionals seeking to learn more about all aspects and potential of metal Additive Manufacturing in construction applications.

From July 4-6, 2023, students will be presented with twenty-four hours of theoretical and practical lessons. The programme includes the following talks:

  • ‘Overview of metal 3D printing in construction’ by Tomaso Trombetti, University of Bologna
  • ‘Characterisation of metal 3DP elements’ by Michele Palermo, University of Bologna
  • ‘Guidelines for structural design of metal 3DP elements’ by Vittoria Laghi, University of Bologna
  • ‘Case study: the world’s first metal 3DP bridge’ by Filippo Gilardi, MX3D, the Netherlands
  • ‘From CNC to 3DP: the evolution of complex steel structures’ by Harald Kloft, TU Braunschweig, Germany
  • ‘Combining metal 3DP and other construction materials’ by Vittoria Laghi
  • ‘Fabrication strategies and monitoring systems’ by Giuseppe Venturini, University of Florence, Italy
  • ‘Demonstration: WAAM lab’ by Michele Palermo
  • ‘Structural optimisation for metal 3DP’ by Matteo Bruggi
  • ‘Advanced numerical modeling’ by Peter Storey, Politecnico di Milano, Italy
  • ‘Life-Cycle Assessment for large-scale metal 3DP’ by Filomeno Martina, WAAM3D, UK
